General Information
Title I schools receive federal Title I funds to assist students in meeting state achievement standards. When a Title I school does not make Adequate Yearly Progress for two consecutive years in reading, math, and/or writing, the school must offer supplemental educational services (SES) for eligible students. Both W. R. Tolar School and Hosford Elementary and Junior High are required to provide SES. These services are designed to ensure that students increase their proficiency in meeting the state’s academic standards in reading and math. Students eligible for SES services are from low-income families, as determined by the district for the purpose of allocating funds under Title I. Priority must be given to the lowest achieving children whenever funds are insufficient to meet the requests of all eligible children and their parents.
